Any update on when we will have this capability? Option to change playback pitch x steps up or down.

There is nothing more annoying that having to change the tune to a play a song. so please change it!!

100% agree. It is very annoyng to change your guitar's tune everytime you want to play a song with a different tune and it's also not good for your guitar to change the tune constantly.

This would be an amazing feature. Alongside the ability to change the playback speed, I think this would be the most useful. Especially for those of us with floyd rose systems and the like, which makes tuning up and down a right pain.

I think this is a great idea (imho it's a must for the site), and it wouldn't need to be confusing at all. All you'd need is an option to change the playback pitch, there wouldn't be any transposing of the tab itself or fret numbers or anything like that.

So, if you play in standard you could easily play along with tabs in Eb (or D standard or C standard or whatever), and if you play in Eb you could easily play along with tabs in standard. Obviously other pitched instruments (bass, keys, etc) would need to change by the same number of semitones too. It would also be useful for songs that use a capo.

My guitars are 1 step down because that is how I write. I'm not a fan of tuning up and down all the time, so this would be great. Of course the tone of the song will change, but for learning, it would be nice to just have the song played in the same positions but sound to match the selected tuning.

Regarding tuning down a 1/2 step only, kind of selfish and I disagree... bands tune in so many ways now. D Standard and C Standard are very popular.

So keep the tab the same, jsut have the pitch heard lowered to x steps

I play mostly 1/2 step down. It would be nice not to have to retune to play a song. We don't need all of the alternate tunings but a 1/2 step down and up would be nice. That way if you play in standard and song is 1/2 step down, no need to retune.

If a song is in drop C, you will have to retune but 1/2 steps should be available.

I agree Gert!! and if one is good enough like Daede mentions, they wouldnt be using this tool.

      • GertGert commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

I think this is a good idea, because you don't have to tune you gitaar all the time.

      • DaedeDaede commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

I think that's generally a bad idea. Songs were written in a certain tuning, and they should be learned/played in that tuning. If someone is interested in playing a song in a different key than it was designed, they should know enough about their instrument to tune down or up a half or whole step on their own. Just my two cents

Just found this site and singed up and i like it so far but this feature is a must. i dont see how it can be confusing.

        1. why it could add more confusion than it helps?
        2. guitar pro has that feature but it's just awful, you can try that, he (gp) change it kind a way that impossible to play, and i don't think, that it possible to do on songsterr.
        ps my english is bad(
